Illinois Lawmakers Targeting State Fees For Taxes

There’s a move in Springfield to rollback the fee the state wants to charge to handle local tax payments. State Rep. Anthony DeLuca yesterday filed a plan to cut the processing fee from Springfield in half. The fee, which is part of the new state budget, would charge cities and counties more to process their local sales tax payments. Many cities say the fee, as it is now, would cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars.
