Lockport Declared Home Rule Community

The city of Lockport has announced the official results of the Special Census conducted earlier this summer shows an updated population count at 25,590. As a result of surpassing 25,000 residents Lockport has now qualified for Home Rule status. The city will now have more authority and control over revenues, condemnations, licensing and zoning. It will also allow the city to earn a larger share of Illinois per capita revenues.
