Lincoln Way Area Roadwork Eyes Future

The New Lenox Village Board looked further during Monday night's meeting at the planned North Cedar Road improvement project.  It will be a case of adding a center turn lane to the two-lane road between Illinois Highway at the south end and Francis Road at the north end.  Mayor Tim Balderman says this will be able to be done without infringing upon anyone's property.  Looking further into the future, a three-way intersection in Mokena will be going through some studies for possible improvements.  Village Administrator John Downs told 1340 WJOL News this is on the west side of Mokena; where Francis, Front, and LaPorte Roads meet, along with a nearby railroad crossing.  Downs says this intersection operates fine today with stop signs, but that should change as growth continues to come to Will County and the Mokena area.  Downs says there are many entities involved here, particularly Will County, since lots of area around this three-way intersection remains unincorporated.  Therefore, the need is there for some long range planning.
