A definite group effort last night on a fire at Lemont Scrap Processing on New Avenue. Over three dozen fire fighters from Lemont, Homer Township, Plainfield, Lockport, and Bolingbrook were involved in containing the fire that started around 4 PM. It was under control by 8-15.....and the cause is under investigation. The interesting thing was the effect on commuters. The fire was near the tracks around the Lemont Train Station......and the firehoses were dragged across the tracks. The supply had to be cut off each time a train approached. New Avenue traffic was heavily affected.
