Renee Kosel of New Lenox says there's more to talk about here than just 'the loss of an important law.' She says what's also disturbing is that the Supreme Court was known to have a decision in December. But it seems to her that they held back so there would be NO EFFECT on the Feburary 2nd primary election.
Kosel says the whole state, and espeically Will County, would now be returning to a time where doctors are leaving due to high medical malpractice insurance rates, and that certain specialists needed in time of emergency WILL NOT BE NEARBY. Kosel also says that IN OTHER STATES similar legislation has WORKED AND SURVIVED.
Kosel says that as the after affects of this ruling continue to be felt patients will suffer lack of adequate care, and jobs will disappear.
Much of the legal profession has stated that the caps took away patients rights, while the medical profession has always stated that while patients are entitled to compensation and damages, settlements of millions and million of dollars making patients and lawyers filthy rich are simply NOT NECESSARY,and hurt the public in the long run.
