Wilhelmi Expects Tax Increase Proposal from Governor
State Senator A J Wilhelmi says Wednesday's budget address from Governor Pat Quinn will most likely hit lots of people between the eyes when he talks about major education cuts, such as up to one-and-a-half billion dollars affecting kindergarten through 12th graders.
Wilhelmi says what he's hearing from citizens is IF YOU WANT A TAX INCREASE, PROVE THAT YOU NEED IT but showing additional efforts in spending cuts and revenue growth. Wilhelmi says he certainly does not consider himself a "tax happy liberal democrat;" but on the other hand, when you see CORE SERVICES THAT PEOPLE NEED in jeopardy, all possibilities need to be considered.
