Will County Governmental League president Joe Cook says Governor Quinn's plans to take away state money distributed to cities is simply not a good idea, and is also not fair. Cook, who also serves as Channahon mayor, says what the governor has in mind is going to cause plenty of local trouble if it goes through as planned; such as the loss of significant police and fire protection statewide. Cook says this can also mean LESS SNOWPLOWING COME NEXT WINTER. He says the only alternative for municipalities would be to raise property taxes.
