Cross Sees Quinn's Education Cuts as an Empty Threat
Illinois House GOP minority leader Tom Cross says his view of Governor Quinn's budget address on Wednesday was a feeling of "very short on the details." Cross also says he believes that in the long run Quinn's threatened education cuts that could cost 17-thousand jobs will not happen. Cross says it sounds familiar to things the governor talked about last year but did not follow through on, such as with the threats about human services and the college MAP PROGRAM. Cross says if there is anything in this state that needs an overhaul it's the pension system. Because unlike when the program was set up years ago, people now live longer. Cross says that while the private sector has adjusted, the public sector often has not.
