Shetina Says 2010 will Match 2009 for Challenges

Joliet City Councilman Joe Shetina says whether we like it or not......there are signs out there that 2010 could end up being MORE CHALLENGING ECONOMICALLY that 2009.

Shetina says it's wonderful that some unions representing city workers, such as the firefighters and police officers, have stepped up to help the city "get through this crisis," and as a result, protect jobs.   Shetina says when choosing between "staying employed" and "being banished to the unemployment line," it should be an obvious choice.

Shetina says one thing we must remember is that CITIES DO NOT CREATE WEALTH.  Instead, they operate DUE TO WEALTH as the needed revenue comes in.  But the trouble is there aren't too many "NEW SOURCES OF WEALTH" these due to the slowdown in development and building permits

Shetina says, like it or not, 2010 could end up being more challenging than 2009; with continuing factors such as less riverboat gaming revenue and falling property values.
