Plans for a Peotone airport are being revived according to the Chicago Tribune. DePaul University transportation expert Joseph Schwieterman says the airport proposal has a shot this time because e-commerce companies like Amazon could use it for transporting goods. Plus the Illinois budget this year allocated $162 million toward improving I-57 to the proposed airport site, along with an environmental review.

Some Peotone residents are opposed to the airport. Will County Board member and Monee farmer, Judy Ogalla tells the Tribune, that they have  “great soil and it doesn’t make sense to pave over that when we have an airport in Gary.”
