Activists Call On Pritzker To Declare State Of Emergency Over Chicago Gun Violence

Community activists are calling on Governor Pritzker to declare a state of emergency over Chicago’s gun violence. Speaking yesterday outside the Chicago Police Department’s headquarters in Bronzeville, activist and former mayoral candidate Ja’Mal Green said gun violence is a “public health crisis.” He said Pritzker needs to step in because city leadership can’t handle the situation. The request followed a Fourth of July weekend that saw at least one-hundred people shot in Chicago.
