Embattled Chicago Alderman Edward Burke was in federal court today for a status hearing concerning corruption charges. He appeared this morning before the judge at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse. A judge granted Burke’ s lawyers an extension on when to file pretrial motions. He gave them until October 8th and the alderman does not have to appear for that hearing. Burke is accused of using his powerful aldermanic position to drive business toward his private law firm.
