Another Chicago Firefighter Dies In The Line Of Duty

The Chicago Fire Department is mourning after another firefighter died in the line of duty this week.  Lieutenant Jan Tchoryk collapsed yesterday in an 11th-floor stairwell while making his way to a fire in a high-rise apartment building in the Gold Coast neighborhood.  The veteran firefighter died later at the hospital.  Tchoryk was a member of the department for 26 years.  His death comes after Firefighter Jermaine Pelt died while battling a house fire Tuesday in the West Pullman neighborhood.
