A veteran defense lawyer who specializes in plea negotiations is helping out R. Kelly’s defense team. Attorney Jeffrey Steinback tells the Chicago Tribune that he was asked to lend his expertise on how to deal with the high-profile charges against the R&B singer. Steinback has a reputation as a deal-maker who negotiates drastically reduced prison sentences for clients. Kelly faces a 13-count indictment claiming he sexually abused underage girls.
