Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties Working To Submit Required Financial Report
It’s been nine months since the abrupt resignation of former Big Brothers, Big Sisters, CEO, Ted Brodeur regarding alleged financial irregularities. While the investigation of alleged financial improprieties continues at BBBS of Will and Grundy counties, there is another issue that is being addressed at the agency.
Illinois Not-for-Profit organizations are required to submit their IL-AG 990 Financial report no later than six months from the close of their fiscal year. Up until recently BBBS was in compliance however that is changing.
BBBS executive Amy Vicioso tells WJOL that the 2021 financial reports have been completed and submitted to the State of Illinois. The 2022 is being held up because the financial numbers were incomplete and the agency is refiling an amended tax return. The 2023 report is not ready to go because the agency is still reviewing numbers and having a problem finding an auditor to go over the report due to the ongoing investigation.
Vicioso says they’re doing everything they can to comply with the state and the investigation. Will County Sheriff’s office continues to investigate financial irregularities.
Brodeur took over BBBS in 2019 from former Joliet Police Chief Mike Trafton who was the CEO from 2015 to 2019. Brodeur resigned in December of 2023.
