Candidate for Chicago Mayor Bill Daley is calling for a smaller City Council. He wants to reduce the number of aldermen from 50 to 15. Daley, the brother and son of former Chicago mayors, also wants to strip City Council members of dome of their powers, including giving aldermen final say over any building and zoning decisions in their ward. The former White House chief of staff is proposing that aldermen are limited to three terms in office and making alderman a full-time job by banning outside income.
