Bill Would Ban Hair Discrimination In Schools

A new bill would ban hair discrimination in schools. The proposed legislation would protect students’ freedom to wear hairstyles they like. The bill had its first hearing yesterday in the Senate Education Committee. The so-called natural hair bill focuses on protecting students’ rights to wear their hair in styles “historically associated with race, ethnicity, or hair texture, including braids, dreadlocks, and twists.”
