An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of Eric O. Stubblefield, which occurred in December 2022. Sammy L. Gibson, 58, of 275 Old Elm Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 21st. Gibson was transferred to the custody of the Will County Adult Detention Facility this afternoon. This concluded an intensive investigation by Bolingbrook Police Detectives, who worked in partnership with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Stubblefield was found deceased inside a vehicle on December 6, 2022, with multiple gunshot wounds. Forensic evidence obtained by Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians was submitted to the crime laboratory within two weeks of the incident. Detectives were steadfast in their efforts and relentlessly pursued the case while awaiting results from the crime laboratory.
After receiving crime lab results in October of this year, Detectives were able to present the case before Will County Associate Judge James Harvey and obtained an arrest warrant for 2 counts of first degree murder and 1 count of concealment of a homicide. Bolingbrook Police Detectives moved quickly and enlisted the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and apprehend Gibson.
The Bolingbrook Police Department wishes to thank the Will County State’s Attorney, Jim Glasgow, his office, and the U.S. Marshals Service for their cooperative efforts in bringing this tragic case to a conclusion.
