Bolingbrook Police Department’s Award-Winning Officers

Bolingbrook Police Chief Mike Rompa is proud to announce that Officer MaryRose Kendall and K9 Ava participated in the 2023 K9 Olympics Seminar & Certification Trials at Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana last week. Officer Kendall and K9 Ava won two awards, placing 2nd place in Residential Narcotics, and 1st in Narcotics Team Overall.

 

The Narcotics Team Overall award is a composite score of all narcotic events from Officer Kendall, K9 Ava and their teammates from the Northern IMPACT K9 Training Group. The competing team included K9 units from the Rolling Meadows Police Department, and the Des Plaines Police Department. The team battled intense heat throughout the week and bested more than 100 K9 handler teams for this honor.

 

Officer Kendall and K9 Ava also completed their annual certification in narcotics and patrol work through Vohne Liche Kennels and American Working Dogs during the week. Congratulations to Officer Kendall and K9 Ava and to each of their training mates from the Northern IMPACT K9 Training Group. Your hard work and dedication have helped to establish your teams as some of the best in our profession, keep up the good work.

 

On Saturday, School Resource Officer (SRO) Chris Salerno was recognized by the Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook as their 2023 Community Service Award recipient. Officer Salerno has served with the Bolingbrook Police Department since 2002 and is currently an SRO assigned to Bolingbrook High School. Officer Salerno is committed to making an impact on the lives of Bolingbrook’s youth and has even volunteered his time to help coach wrestling at BHS the past two seasons.

Officer Salerno was honored on stage with his family during the annual Taste of Pakistan. We would like to thank the Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook for continuing to identify and honor the community leaders from our police department.
