Bolingbrook Schools Added To Unsubstantiated Threats

The Bolingbrook Police Department and other police departments throughout the area are aware of numerous school safety threats circulating on social media. The Bolingbrook Police Department takes all such threats seriously and has diligently investigated the threats purported to involve schools in our community.

This investigation has revealed that these posts originated on the west coast and have been shared in numerous school districts throughout the country. The investigation remains open, but we believe there is no credibility to this specific threat.

Additionally, at approximately 2:25 pm today, Jane Addams Middle School received an unsubstantiated threat to the school building via web email. Jane Addams building administration quickly informed BPD and VVSD District leadership. Due to the aforementioned social media threats to schools in the surrounding area, Jane Addams administration placed the school in a Secure and Teach at approximately 2:25pm. BPD conducted a precautionary sweep of the property and building and released the building from Secure and Teach at 3:05 pm.

We will continue to work with the Valley View School District and our partner agencies to identify those who create or share such threats with the intent to spread fear. Many thanks to our alert residents, Valley View staff, and our police officers for working together to keep Bolingbrook’s schools safe for our children.
