Update: Elderly Driver Behind the Wheel In Fatal Crest Hill Crash

One person has died after she was struck by a vehicle that drove through a business in a strip mall in Crest Hill. Just before 1:00pm on Wednesday afternoon, Lockport Township Fire crews and Crest Hill police were called to the scene of a strip mall in the 1800-block of Knapp Drive for a crash with injuries. Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark has confirmed to WJOL that a car driven by a 90-year-old male coming from the intersection of Willow Circle and Knapp Drive, across from the scene, struck a female in front of the building, before crashing into the business with the car.

Both the driver of the vehicle and the woman were transported to AMITA St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where the woman later succumbed to her injuries. The Will County Coroner’s Office is identifying the woman as 36-year-old Jamie Walsh of Joliet.  There is no word on the condition of the driver. An investigation is underway into the crash.
