Channahon Resident Didn’t Stop For Speeding Gets Hit With More Charges

A 20 year old Channahon resident is arrested after fleeing police trying to conduct a traffic stop. Luciano Strange was was arrested, for Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Peace Officer, DUI, and DUI – Over .08.
It was on October 21, 2023, at 3:15 a.m., a Joliet Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Lexus near West Jefferson Street and Stryker Avenue for speeding. The driver refused to stop and drove away at a high rate of speed westbound on West Jefferson Street. The pursuit was terminated out of a concern for safety as the vehicle continued southbound on South Larkin Avenue at a high rate of speed. Information about the vehicle was disseminated to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
A short time later, the Officer was notified that Officers with the Channahon Police Department had located the vehicle and driver at Thornton’s gas station (24144 West Eames Street). Officers responded to this location and identified Strange as the driver of the Lexus. Officers determined that Strange exhibited behaviors consistent with possible alcohol impairment and he was placed into custody. Strange was transported to the Joliet Police Department where he agreed to perform field sobriety tests.
Upon search of the vehicle, Officers recovered suspected cannabis and an open bottle of alcohol. The Lexus was towed from the scene. Strange received the following traffic citations: Failure to Dim Headlights, Speeding 26-34 MPH Over Limit, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Signal, Disobeyed Traffic Control Device, Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Eluding a Peace Officer, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by Driver, and Unlawful Use of Cannabis by Driver.
