City of Joliet Election Petitions for Candidacy – April 1, 2025 Election

Filing Period for Petition Packets Begins November 12, 2024

Beginning Tuesday, August 20, 2024, informational packets for candidacy for three (3), full-term (4 years) At-Large City Council positions will be available in the Joliet City Clerk’s Office, located in the Joliet Municipal Building, 150 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL 60432.

 

Federal and Illinois law imposes qualifications to be eligible to submit a petition for candidacy and to serve as an elected official. Candidates should review applicable laws to determine whether they meet the required qualifications.  Compliance with the applicable laws regarding having the petitions for candidacy signed and submitted with other required documents is the sole responsibility of the candidate and not the City of Joliet or any of its employees.  Neither the City Clerk nor any other City employee will be responsible for reviewing petitions that are filed during the filing period to determine whether the petitions are in compliance with the law.

 

Candidacy petitions must be filed with the Joliet City Clerk’s Office between Tuesday, November 12, 2024 and Monday, November 18, 2024 during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The Joliet City Clerk’s Office will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024 to accept petitions for candidacy.
