City of Joliet Historic Preservation Award: Nominate Now!

Nominations for the Annual Joliet Historic Preservation Award are due March 1, 2019. The City of Joliet bestows this annual award, which recognizes properties that have undergone recent exterior and/or interior preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use, or sympathetic additions, as well as people who exhibit dedication to the field of historic preservation.

Last year’s winners included:

  • 318 South Midland Avenue for the interior restoration Craftsman bungalow.
  • 604 North Raynor Avenue for the front façade restoration of the Neoclassical Cathedral of St. Raymond church
  • 50 West Jefferson Street for the adaptive reuse of a portion of the Beaux Arts Joliet Union Station for MyGrain Brewery
  • 310 Bridge Street for the exterior preservation of the castellated Romanesque Sehring Mansion

To nominate a property or person for this award, nomination forms can be found on the City’s Historic Preservation Commission website or, can be picked up in the Community Development Department at City Hall located at 150 W. Jefferson Street.
