City of Joliet Stadium Committee Meeting To Be Held On Monday
Following the news that WJOL has learned that Joliet Slammers majority owner Nick Semaca has sold a majority stake of the team to legendary minor-league baseball owner Mike Veeck and Hollywood funnyman Bill Murray. The announcement was made on Wednesday evening to Slammer’s season ticket holders.
Heather Mills the General Manager of the Slammers send an email to the City of Joliet:
Per the stadium lease agreement with the City of Joliet that states, “the sale, conveyance or transfer of more than fifty percent (50+%) of the ownership interest of the Team, shall be subject to the approval of the City which approval not be unreasonable withheld, delayed, or conditioned.”
The Slammers are requesting approval given the new investors will collectively own 75% of the shares of Joliet Community Baseball and Entertainment, LLC once the transaction has closed.
