Congresswoman Kelly Elected Chair Of Democratic Party of Illinois

Robin Kelly is the first woman and person of color elected as the chair of the Democratic Party of Illinois. State Democratic leaders selected the south suburban Congresswoman last night to replace embattled former House Speaker Michael Madigan, who held the post for 23 years. Kelly narrowly defeated Chicago Alderman Michelle Harris during a virtual meeting.
