Durbin Joins UAW Picket Line In Bolingbrook

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin is showing his support for striking auto workers in Illinois. The Illinois Democrat joined United Auto Workers on the picket line yesterday at General Motors in Bolingbrook. He urged UAW and the Big Three automakers to work towards a resolution that gives employees a share in the success they’ve helped to create. Thousands of auto workers are on strike at parts and distribution centers across 20 states.
Pictured is President Biden standing alongside UAW members on the picket line in Michigan on Tuesday. Biden told workers on strike they deserve a significant raise and other benefits as automakers like Ford, General Motors and Stellantis have raked in record profits. He added that UAW workers saved the automobile industry in 2008 and have made a lot of sacrifices. It’s the first time a sitting U.S. president has stood on the picket line alongside workers. Former President Trump is set to visit the state to show his support for union workers Wednesday.
