Early Morning Romeoville Fire Damages Balcony, Apartment
Tuesday morning just before 12:15, the Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded to a possible apartment fire in the 1300 block of Mews Lane in the Village of Romeoville. Fire companies arrived on scene to find a working fire on the balcony of a second floor apartment unit.
Crews on scene were able to quickly extinguish the fire, the sprinkler system was activated and was able to keep the fire from spreading until crews could complete extinguishment. There was damage to the exterior of the building, with minor damage to the interior of the affected unit. A full still was requested. The occupants were home at the time of the incident and there were no reported injuries.
Multiple nearby fire departments were dispatched to assist on scene or to help provide coverage of the fire district, they were cancelled prior to arrival.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and is being investigated by the Lockport Fire Investigators
