While the subject was being treated for his injuries, it was discovered that he had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was conscious and was able to provide officers with information regarding the offender, who was known to him. The victim was transported to Silver Cross Hospital and was later transferred to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition with 18 stab wounds to multiple  parts of his body, including his face, neck, abdomen, and legs. At this time, his injuries do not appear to  be life threatening.

Due to the extent of the victim’s injuries, the investigation was turned over to the Lockport Police Department. Detectives determined that the offender, later identified as Christian P. Mikolaitis, age 19,  had met the victim under the pretense of selling him narcotics. Mikolaitis  then, in an unprovoked attack, stabbed the victim while the victim remained seated in Mikolaitis’ vehicle. The victim was able to exit the vehicle during the attack, and Mikolaitis then fled the scene.
