Candidates running for mayor of Chicago are calling for ethics reform in response to the federal corruption charge against Alderman Edward Burke. During a Tribune Editorial Board forum yesterday, Toni Preckwinkle, LaShawn Ford, Willie Wilson, Gery Chico and Bill Daley all said they favored a ban on outside income for aldermen. Daley also suggested decreasing the size of the City Council. All but Preckwinkle pushed for the elimination of so-called alderman privilege, which gives City Council members veto power over zoning and permits in their wards.
