Ex-Watchdog Says Buried Report Of Legislator’s Misconduct Shows Broken Process

The former Illinois legislative inspector general says a buried report of a fellow legislator’s misconduct shows a broken process. Ex-watchdog Julie Porter said Tuesday in an op-ed that lawmakers aren’t addressing longstanding problems despite warnings from her predecessor and a series of high-profile sexual harassment allegations at the Capitol. Porter was appointed interim IG in November 2017 after alleged victims said their complaints went unheard.
