Man Killed In Blast In Lemont Is Identified
The Will County Sheriff’s Office responded at the scene of an explosion that has occurred on Tuesday, April 25th at Seneca Petroleum, 12640 S. New Avenue in Lemont.  One person is confirmed deceased, and a second individual has been transported to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.  Multiple fire emergency personnel responded to the scene and at this time have controlled the fire.  Initial reports indicate that the explosion occurred at an asphalt tank.  Fire personnel do not believe that any type of hazmat situation has occurred and there is no danger to the public.  OSHA has been called to the scene, as well as ComEd.  The explosion caused some power lines to come down.
The Will County Coroner’s Office is identifying the man killed in the blast as Dru A. Worker, a 25 year old male resident of Homewood, IL, who was pronounced deceased Tuesday at 11:05am in Lemont, IL at Seneca Petroleum. Mr. Worker was involved in an industrial incident. The Will County Sheriff Police is investigating the incident. An autopsy has been scheduled for 4-26-23. The final cause and manner of death is pending at this time.
