Families Speak Out Following Buffalo Wild Wings Racial Incident

The people involved in a racist incident at a Buffalo Wild Wings in suburban Chicago last month are speaking out about the ordeal.

Speaking with reporters in Aurora, Justin Vahl, who is African-American, said the host asked him “what race he was” to which he responded “what does that matter?” Marcus Riley, who was with the group at the restaurant, said he told the manager he refuses to move because of the color of his skin. Riley said the group made the decision to leave and walk out because they felt they were not appreciated and they would not support the establishment.

The restaurant has since fired employees that were involved and they have banned the customer who “exhibited the inappropriate behavior” for life. Buffalo Wild Wings said in a statement that it has zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind and they will conduct sensitivity training throughout their Chicago locations.
