Fire and Hazmat Situation in Romeoville

Lockport Township Fire Deparment crews were called to the scene of Chemtech Service on the 20-600 block of Gaskin Drive around 5:30 this morning to calls of a structure fire with a possible chemical spill. Upon arrival to the scene, crews found a manufacturing facility with smoke showing. Upon further investigation, a fire began in the processing area of the warehouse, and generated heavy black smoke that was contained to the warehouse area. Mutual aid companies, including the Lockport Hazmat team and Southwest Hazardous Materials Team were called in to assist and identify any further hazards, as well as to decontaminate personel who were in the building. Damage was contained throughout the entire building, with no injuries and immeadiate hazards reported beyond the building.
