FOID Card Backlog Continues

Illinois State Police say a backlog of FOID card approvals is continuing, but improving.  ISP says over 135-thousand new applications, renewals, and other FOID card requests are waiting to be processed.  The overall wait time for processing is just over 90 days.  The agency attributes the slowdown to short staffing because of the pandemic, and nearly triple the normal number of applications between March and September.
