Three free “Owl Prowl” programs are being offered in February by the Forest Preserve District of Will County.

The “Owl Prowls” will be held at these locations:
•Hickory Creek Preserve – LaPorte Road Access, Mokena: 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. Registration is required by Thursday, Jan. 31.
•Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete Township: 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Registration is required by Thursday, Feb. 7.

Participants will hike 1.5-miles with a naturalist to search for the resident raptors and to discover the natural history of the various Will County owls.

Some of the District’s owl programs are already full, so register early for the “Owl Prowls” if you want a spot. Register online at ReconnectWithNature.org or call 708-946-2216. The 4 p.m. “Owl Prowl” session is for all ages; the 7 p.m. programs are for ages 16 and older. All programs are held outside. Dress for the weather and don’t forget to bring your favorite mug for hot cocoa and a camping chair for a post-hike session by the fire.
