Former Will County Sheriff’s Candidate Ken Kaupas Passes Away

WJOL news has learned that former Will County Sheriff’s Candidate and retired Illinois State Police Captain Ken Kaupas has passed away.¬†Ken was hired by the Sheriff’s Department in December 2010 as the Media Affairs Spokesman. He was reassigned as Deputy Chief of Special Operations in January of 2011 and resigned in December of 2014 after an¬†unsuccessful run for Will County Sheriff. Kaupas was also a retired captain with the Illinois State Police, having served with the State Police from 1983 until 2009.

Visitation for Ken Kaupas will take place from 3 – 8 p.m. Wednesday with funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Overman-Jones Funeral Home in Plainfield. Interment will take place afterward in Oswego at Risen Lord Cemetery.
