Gov Pritzker Appoints Dr. Sameer Vohra to Lead Illinois Department of Public Health

Dr. Sameer Vohra will become director of the Illinois Department of Public Health on Aug. 1, Gov. J.B. Prtizker announced on Tuesday.
Governor Pritzker is appointing Dr. Sameer Vohra as the head of the Illinois Department of Public Health. Vohra is the Founding Chair of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine’s Department of Population Science and Policy. He follows Dr. Ngozi Ezike, who stepped down in March after leading IDPH through the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vohra starts his new position August 1st.
