Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says he’s not going to send the Illinois National Guard to Chicago. The governor yesterday told reporters that the state’s citizen soldiers are not the right fit to patrol the city of Chicago. A number of media outlets reported this week that the governor was thinking about sending troops to the city to help fight a spike in gun violence. Rauner said sending the guard into the city would be a mistake.
