House Democrats Seek To Extend Private School Tax Credit Program

Illinois Democrats are looking to extend a controversial private school tax credit. House Democrats introduced a bill yesterday that would extend the “Invest in Kids” program by another five years. The program offers a 75-percent income tax credit to individuals and businesses that contribute to qualified Scholarship Granting Organizations. The SGOs then provide scholarships for students whose families meet the income requirements to attend qualified, non-public schools and technical academies in Illinois.
