IHSA Making Big Changes for Boys & Girls Basketball Tournaments

The Illinois High School Association is changing the way it runs it’s state basketball tournament. Both girls and boys state tournaments will be held in one weekend for all four classes.
Girls tournament, which was held over two weekends, will now be March 4-6 at Redbird Arena in Normal.
While all 4 classes of the boys tournament will be played March 11th-13 at the Peoria Civic Center.
The changes will take place in 2021 and this change should help increase attendance and reduce cost.
“There has been a great deal of support for this new tournament format over the last few months” said IHSA executive director Craig Anderson.
Contracts at both venues are up after this year, and the state is seeking Request For Proposals for hosting for 2021-2023.
