Illinois Exits Voter Database Program

Illinois is leaving one of the country’s two voter database systems. The Illinois State Board of Elections yesterday voted unanimously to leave the Crosscheck program. Crosscheck compared voter databases across most states, looking for people who are registered in multiple states. Critics complained about the cost, the security and Crosscheck’s political ties. An election’s spokesman says Illinois will use a different voter database system, ERIC, for the next election.
