Illinois: Food Stamp Benefits Early, Not Extra

The people who manage food stamps in Illinois are warning folks across the state not to spend too much this weekend. The Illinois Department of Human Services says the nearly two-million people who are on food stamps in the state should get their benefits for February by Sunday. But, DHS says that’s an advance payment, not an extra payment. They are rushing those benefits to states because of the partial federal government shutdown.
