Some college athletes in Illinois could make a little money while in school under a plan that’s gaining support at the state Capitol. Governor JB Pritzker over the weekend said he supports the idea of letting college athletes make money off of their image or their name. The proposal before lawmakers would not require schools in the state to pay athletes, though it may still run afoul of NCAA rules which prohibit college athletes from being paid in any way.
