Illinois lawmakers are back in the state Capitol for the start of Veto session. One issue being discussed is banning red light cameras. A House bill would change the state vehicle code and remove red light cameras throughout the state. The intent of the cameras was to increase public safety, and the state has charged more than a billion dollars in fines since 2008. Opponents of the cameras say they take away the discretion an officer would have to judge the situation.
