Illinois Lawmakers Look To Universal College Admission

A new plan under consideration at the Illinois Capitol could take some of the worry out of college planning for some students in the state. Democrat Andre Thapedi wants Illinois universities to automatically accept any students in the top ten percent of their class. Students would have to meet the requirements for each school, and they would stay unique to each campus. But some university leaders worry automatic acceptance could lead to unprepared students being accepted to schools that are not a good fit.
