Illinois Local Governments Want Tax Revenue From Online Sales

Illinois cities and counties are wanting to get in on collecting sales taxes from online retailers. The executive director of the Illinois Municipal League says local governments want to capture sales taxes imposed on out-of-state retailers online. Illinois’ law cites a U.S. Supreme Court decision last year that allows states to collect sales tax from online retailers, even if they don’t have a physical presence in the state.
