The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is observing Flood Safety Week with helpful tips. I-EMA spokesperson Kevin Sur says it is important to avoid flood areas at all costs. He adds that just six inches of moving water can take a person down and 12 inches can move a car. Sur also mentioned that you should avoid bridges above fast-moving floodwaters.
