Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show Illinois lost enough residents to populate Springfield in 2022.  The point-eight-percent decrease was the third-largest population loss in the country this year behind New York and California.  More than 141-thousand residents left the state.  This is now the ninth consecutive population loss Illinois has recorded.
