Illinois Senator Looks To Outlaw Animal Prizes

The days of winning a goldfish as a prize at the county fair or festival may soon be over in Illinois. A suburban-Chicago state Senator wants to outlaw live animals as prizes. Senator Suzy Hilton says it’s cruel to animals, and sometimes sticks people with pets that live for years. She says carnivals, fairs, and festivals shouldn’t be able to traffick in live animals.
